Homeownership remains the principal way most families build wealth in this country. This course focuses on minority homeownership by reviewing data such as average income, debt-to-income (DTI) ratio, loan channel composition and rates of minority homeownership in TN and across the US. We discuss the most common barriers to minority homeownership and ways to overcome them. We also introduce you to local resources and tolls and explore meaningful partnerships that can help increase minority homeownership in TN. We may not be able to solve the problems in this class, but we can and will continue the conversation.
